Writings on curious recipes, food I've tasted around the world and the quest for finding the perfect blueberry muffin.


I figure one way to feel less guilty about spending hours reading anything and everything on food and going out of my way to find the perfect blueberry muffin recipe or the best pizza in town is by actually doing something with this knowledge - by sharing it with people who are also as passionate or just happen to want to bake up the perfect muffin batch.

I don't know when exactly this obsession  started, but over the past few years I've began reading - a maybe slightly unhealthy amount of - food blogs; I always go straight to the "food section" of any newspaper or magazine, and I will, for example, walk 5 miles to taste what has been written up as "the best doughnut in NYC" (and yes, it was pretty damn good).

And that's why on this site you'll find entries on recipes, opinions on food I've eaten out and about, as well as random rants and praises on anything food.

Also, as Queen Googler, there will be a section where various food related questions are answered - so you won't have to spend hours googling. From how to make your own buttermilk, vanilla extract or cake flour, to how much 1 cup of flour or granulated sugar is in grams, I'll have it covered.

And because food tastes so much better when you're not eating it alone, there will be regular and one time guest bloggers writing about their recent food encounters along here with me. Finally, a little bit about the girl behind dids. I'm better known as Jenna and grew up in South Tyrol, a region in the north of Italy, studied in Vienna and Dublin and have spent some time in the US. While these places have certainly influenced my cooking, I also love experimenting with ingredients and spices that I am still rather unfamiliar with. At the moment I'm a bit obsessed with Middle Eastern cuisine, on the search for the perfect falafel wrap, and dying to try my take on baba ghanoush or lamb kofta. On a more permanent basis I am into local, seasonal and organic produce and obsessed with finding the perfect blueberry muffin, homemade bread, olives and traditional South Tyrolean dishes.

I graduated with a major in English from the University of Vienna and decided to move to a city on an island and try to find a way of making my passion my profession. Okay, so the city on an island is actually London and "trying to find" does kind of translate to unemployed, but details! For now, this site will keep me busy.  Currently I am attending culinary school which is consuming pretty much all my time, but I try to make time for this site whenever I can. Enjoy! I have just finished an 8 month internship at Sainsbury's magazine and am currently working as a freelance recipe tester, writer and food styling assistant.
